Alim Abdul and Jahida Sultana Award Scholarship to Class 8 Topper Sadya Sarkar

Sadya Sarkar, a Class 8 student at Kazi Kumar Uddin Government Institution (KK High School), has faced more hardship in his young life than most adults ever will — and he has met it with quiet determination and academic excellence.
Sadya's father passed away in 2019 after a battle with cancer. The family was left with nothing. Since then, his mother has been the family's sole provider, working as a teacher at a village kindergarten for a salary of just 2,500 taka a month — barely enough to cover basic needs, let alone the cost of educating two children.
Yet through it all, Sadya has excelled. He has studied at KK High School since Class 6, ranking 4th in his class in both Class 7 and Class 8, and currently serves as his class captain. Before that, at Ikra Pre-Cadet School under the Munshiganj District Kindergarten Association, he earned merit-based scholarships in Class 4 (2022) and Class 5 (2023) — a track record of consistent academic achievement stretching back years, even as his family's circumstances grew more difficult.
Sadya has been able to manage private tutoring in English, but the cost of private math tuition has been out of reach — a gap that stands between a promising student and his full potential.
The selection process was done in coordination with KK High School's headmaster, Mr. Bhutan, who requested all the teachers to vote for a student. The teachers decided, all voted, and this is how Sadya was selected — awarded by KK High School's Headmaster himself.
Moved by his story, Alim Abdul and his wife, Jahida Sultana, CEO of AABGM, personally awarded Sadya a scholarship through the Munshiganj Foundation. Both Alim and Jahida are graduates of Government Harganga College, and their support reflects a deep, personal commitment to giving back to the community and institutions that shaped their own paths. Their gift will help cover Sadya's educational expenses and tutoring support, allowing him to continue focusing on his studies rather than his family's financial strain.
His story is a powerful reminder of why this kind of support matters: talented, hardworking students should never be held back by circumstances beyond their control.
